Fathers’ Day football, fete, fun and beer
If you are looking for somewhere fun to take your Dad on Fathers Day, June 20, then Wreningham in South Norfolk is just the place to be with a World Cup Football themed fete and a weekend-long beer festival.
Festivities begin at Wreningham Village Hall on Friday June 18 with the opening of the Beer Festival, when there will be a number of real ales (with a football theme) and live World Cup football on TV.
On Saturday June 19, there will be more live football and beer in the hall’s Social Club while in the main hall there will be a Race Evening with proceeds to the Bramble Bears Playgroup. Tickets are £5 in advance and £6 on the night from 01508 488422. Bring your own nibbles.
The main action kicks off on Fathers Day, Sunday June 20, when the Wreningham Fete takes place from 11am to 4pm.
As well as live World Cup football and the Beer Festival there is a free admission fete on the village playing field.
Activities will include a chainsaw artist in action, ring events including a Tug-of War, a speed football challenge, World Cup pig racing, face-painting, craft activities, guess the name of the doll, bingo, stalls selling plants, bric-a-brac, books, cakes and jewelry, a raffle and tombola. There will also be lunches, teas, a barbecue and ice creams.
Organiser, Christine Minns, said: “Wreningham never does things by halves and with the World Cup happening it was too good a chance to miss. The beer will be on tap from 8pm Friday until it runs out late on Sunday afternoon.”
Wreningham is situated eight miles south of Norwich off the B1113 road once through Mulbarton.
